Pure Country 106 — CICX-FM

Pure Country 106 (CICX-FM) is a local commercial radio station based in Orillia, Ontario. Owned by Bell Media, it is part of the Pure Country network, broadcasting in English with a contemporary country format tailored to listeners aged 25 to 54. The station has been on the air since 1943, operating under its current brand since May 2019.

The station’s broadcast schedule relies on live, interactive programming and respected hosts rather than auto-pilot. During the morning show, "Jason and Carey," country artist Jason McCoy and Carey Moran deliver high-energy humor and local stories, while midday host Shannon Ella—who also hosts the nationally syndicated Pure Country Top 50—connects with rural life and supports the local community. As McCoy once noted on-air: "We don't just play tracks—we set the mood for all of Central Ontario."

The rotation features proven hits from artists like Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, and Bailey Zimmerman. The playlist is anchored by fresh country streams from the US and Canada, steering clear of rare classics.

While Numeris does not publish ratings for small markets, the station's status is cemented by widespread industry recognition. In 2026, host Shannon Ella won the CCMA award for Country Music Personality of the Year, while the station and her Pure Country Top 50 Countdown were also nominated for awards. The station’s recent honours include multiple CMAO award nominations for Small Market Radio Station of the Year, a 2025 CMAO Real McCoy Award for morning co-host Jason McCoy, and a 2024 Broadcast Dialogue Radio Award for morning hosts Jason McCoy and Carey Moran.

Primary competitors in the region include Rock 95 and 104.1 The Dock. Key strengths include recognizable on-air personalities and reliable signal coverage, while weaknesses involve network-standardized playlists and traditional commercial breaks.
