Rock 95 — CFJB-FM

Rock 95 (CFJB-FM) has been broadcasting in Barrie, Ontario, since 1988 on 95.7 FM. DJs Rachel Detta, Tim Westin, and others enjoy their own music. In a world where radio stations copy each other, their independence is a breath of fresh air.

Listening to the station, I noticed they regularly repeat, "Classic rock. New rock. Everything." And that's true. It's simple: they play Led Zeppelin, then Nirvana, and then something fresh from Arkells or Yungblud. I think the music is chosen by a real person at the controls, not a soulless algorithm that doesn't care what's playing.

"The Morning Crew" with Craig, Brian, and Michael Jackson has already become a classic. It's that cozy, slightly crazy morning show that's so nice to wake up to. Sometimes they crack witty jokes, sometimes they just spout positive nonsense—that's the whole point. And yes, that "birthday call" at 7:40 is still popular. Old-fashioned? Maybe. But it works, and people love it. For over 30 years, the station has hosted the annual Rock 95/Kool FM Toy charity event.
