104.9 The Wave — CKBC-FM

104.9 The Wave (CKBC-FM) is a commercial radio station out of Bathurst, New Brunswick. Owned by Maritime Broadcasting System (MBS Radio), it carries a history dating back to 1955, though it made the jump to the 104.9 FM spot in 2003. You can pick it up across the Chaleur region and Belledune, or just stream it online if you're outside the signal area.

Music Format

The station sticks to a blend of Classic Hits and Adult Hits—mostly targetted at the 35–64 crowd, but really for anyone who likes a decent radio mix. It skips heavy news blocks and loud rock in favor of continuous music, leaning heavily on the '80s and '90s with some '70s classics tossed in. Expect to hear Queen or Prince mixed alongside Canadian staples like Bryan Adams.

Local Features

Outside the music, 104.9 covers the daily essentials: quick weather checks, blizzard warnings, basic regional news, and weekend updates like the Yard Sale Report. The station also airs local events and community fundraisers, such as Kinsmen Radio Bingo.
